Counselling - Open Place
Open Place counselling staff will continue to assist service users to access counselling. The service is available to Forgotten Australians and their immediate family members.
Counselling support sought by Forgotten Australians and any immediate family members will continue to be available and access to counselling will continue to be arranged through Open Place in consultation with individual service users and approved counsellors.
External counsellors will be used where appropriate (based on the location and preference of the service user), via the support fund.
Please contact Open Place counselling staff for information and assistance with obtaining the counselling you would like.
What is counselling?
Counselling offers you the chance to talk privately with a trained professional who can listen, offer support, advice and new perspectives on your issues. The decision to seek help for a personal situation is a tough one. The whole idea of talking to an outsider about personal problems can be hard.
However, many Forgotten Australians and their family members have told us that they have found counselling helpful in coming to terms with issues from the past, as well as a practical way of resolving current problems.
