Review of the National Redress Scheme

The National Redress Scheme is undergoing an independent review from 1 to 31 July 2026.

The review provides an important opportunity to reflect on how the Scheme has worked in practice, and what is needed to support a safe conclusion as it approaches its close in 2028.

Anyone with experience of the Scheme is encouraged to take part in the review. 

Feedback is welcome from:

•    people who have applied
•    people who have chosen not to apply or have withdrawn their application
•    people who supported someone through the process
•    Redress Support Services
•    advocacy organisations
•    institutions.

Feedback can be provided by written submission or by completing the online form on the DSS Engage website. A written submission allows people to share their views in their own way. The online form provides questions for those who wish to participate but are unsure how to start. Participants will not have to share their personal experiences of abuse.

All feedback will be considered as part of the review and inform a public report to be released in late 2026.
