To raise community awareness of the issues impacting on Forgotten Australians with the aim of increasing their access to health, aged care and housing services and social support within their communities.
The circumstances faced by Forgotten Australians need to be better known within the community. Community education includes both the history and the particular needs of Forgotten Australians and the role that Open Place and the broader service system can play in meeting these needs. Community education also focusses on providing information to educational and training institutes.
The program is led by the Co-ordinator of Community Education in consultation with other Forgotten Australians and the teams at Open Place.
