Open Place is a support and advocacy service that coordinates and provides direct assistance to people who grew up in Victorian orphanages and homes prior to 1990. Our service aims to be accessible, welcoming and open to new ideas.

We aim to help people who identify as Forgotten Australians, or Pre-1990 Care Leavers, to deal with the legacy of your childhood experiences and provide support to improve your health and wellbeing.

St Vincent’s Boys’ Home Reunion 2026

Did you live at St Vincent’s in South Melbourne in the 1970s or 1980s?

You are warmly invited to a reunion of former residents on Thursday 30th April from 5-8pm.

At the site of the former home, 237 Cecil Street, South Melbourne.

An opportunity to reconnect with others, tour the building, visit the Heritage Centre and look through photos.
Refreshments, including pizza, will be provided in the Heritage Centre.
