Please find information below about Open Place’s response to COVID-19 and what it means for you.

Changes to services at Open Place


From 9am – 5pm our telephone line is open. We are taking calls on 1800 779 379. We will also be responding to emails received at during this time.


All new intakes/referrals will be by phone/email.


Record searches will continue to be occurring as long as record holders continue to be operating. No face to face supported releases will be occurring but talk to us about how we may be able to support you over the phone.

Co-ordinated Support

We will be operating as usual via phone or email, but unable to provide any outreach.


If you are receiving counselling from an Open Place counsellor they would have contacted you by now to talk about telephone counselling with them during this period of time If you are receiving counselling from an external provider, they too will be talking directly to you about any change to how counselling is delivered.


We will continue to support you with redress applications but will be unable to do any outreach during this period. Please talk with your redress support worker or for new requests a member of the redress team to discuss how best we can support you through the process.

Health Brokerage

Will continue to be processed within the current guidelines, with emphasis on supporting your health needs during this period.

For those of you who have been attending Drop In , Social Support groups or activities on a regular basis we will be’ checking in’ to see how you are via phone or in some cases email – we want to assure you that our support will be there.
